Week 8 | 17 - 21 October | Psychometric Test & SEGAK Day

Just like every Monday, this week was started with formal morning assembly. Later on in the assembly, pupils were told by teacher in charge that they are going to take psychometric test, and each class takes turns.

On Wednesday, year 5 pupils had Ujian SEGAK. Starting from warming up together, each class then took turn to go to every station. Along with a senior teacher, Mrs. Hanne, I was assign to handle station 4 - ringkuk tubi separa.

STRENGTH 
  • The lessons I taught this week were my strong points because I had studied them in college and could easily teach them. Prepositions are also straightforward for children to understand.
WEAKNESS
  • Consistently, no weakness was detected this week.
OBSERVATION
  • I discovered a new way to efficiently teach kids something new, which is to play quizizz instead of doing worksheets all the time. Pupils were more enthusiastic to answer questions given.
THREAT 
  • As a teacher, class management is essential to me since it enables me to keep tabs on the pupils as they are studying a subject. It is possible to have them listen to you at some point, thus class management is crucial in this situation.

Week 7 | 10 - 14 & 15 October | School and Hari Sukan Negara

Monday started with formal morning assembly. After singing national anthem, state song and school song. The assembly was proceeded with archery to launch the month of Panitia and Seni Visual.

Other than that, classes were conducted normally and pupils were behaving really well.

Since my mentor was busy with aerobic program, I also had to go to the hall in order to control a lot of pupils there.

On Saturday, SK Taman Melawati 2 held Hari Sukan Negara for pupils' co-curriculum meeting. I was assigned to conduct year 4's badminton club along with other senior teachers.







SWOT analysis for week 7

STRENGTH 
  • This week, I was able to maintain control of the student's conduct in class. My lesson plan is well-managed, and I was able to complete my whole lesson this week.

WEAKNESS
  • Not a lot of weaknesses could be detected this week. Only few pupils were losing focus while I was teaching.

OBSERVATION
  • During my teaching class, it could be seen that pupils enjoyed my lesson. This is because I made them answer my questions, but I also answered their questions. I kept the 2-way learning going.
THREAT 
  • My lesson could be interrupted if I entertain all of pupils' questions. Therefore, I need to make sure that I only answer questions that are related to the lesson. Other questions can be answered if there are time.

Week 6 | 3 - 7 October | Groupwork

This week, nothing special much had happened. Pupils did their presentation on Monday. In the next two class, I focused on doing workbook with them because my mentor told me so. It is because we had finished unit 5.

SWOT ANALYSIS OF WEEK 6

STRENGTH 
  • I was able to maintain control over them by being more severe in terms of educating and exercising. Everything went just as planned. Class management has improved compared to the previous week.

WEAKNESS
  • I couldn't discover any weakness this week. Pupils were comfortable with me but still respect me as their teacher. 

OBSERVATION
  • So far, my observations indicate that they have changed significantly in terms of fundamental English understanding. I hope they are more eager to study in the long term for their own benefit.

THREAT 
  • Until now, the only thing interfering with their learning were their own friends. If pupils played in class, their learning progress might be interrupted.

Week 5 | 26 - 30 September | Improvements!

Monday was started with morning assembly. There was also a short skit in conjunction to Anti - Rasuah program. It was a program to ban corruptions.

I had tried taking pictures of my pupils before, but they were usually shy. This time, they showed improvements.

STRENGTH

  • Students showed improvements. More pupils were volunteering when I asked them to volunteer to answer some questions.

WEAKNESS

  • A weakness that I discovered this week was, pupils tend to take too much time to complete the groupwork they were working on.

OBSERVATION

  • As kids, I understand that they can still be struggling to distribute work among them. This then result to consuming more time than they actually could.

THREAT

  • Time management is the most important thing. I had to be more stern in order to make pupils finish their work in allocated time.

Week 4 | 19 - 23 September | Hari Pameran Hasil Kerja Murid

This week, quite a lot had happened. Besides teaching as usual, us, practicum teachers along with other senior teachers were assigned to do the booths for pupils' exhibitions.









This week, I taught 5 UIAM about food blog and how to order at restaurants or cafes.

On 23rd September, Hari Pameran Hasil Kerja Murid was held at Dewan Kecil SK Taman Melawati 2.


SWOT ANALYSIS OF WEEK 6

STRENGTH

  • Pupils were able to engage actively and almost all pupils managed to complete the worksheet without any mistake.

WEAKNESS

  • Few pupils made minor mistakes like spelling errors and decimal point placements for price.

OBSERVATION

  • After observing, I realized that I need to make sure to focus on spelling and emphasize to pupils about the decimal points.

THREAT

  • To boost students' motivation to learn, a variety of changes may be made. I could, for instance, recognize each of their top performers. Along with adopting fun teaching strategies, parents may help their children learn by providing them with materials like colorful paper and pencils that stimulate their imaginations.

Week 3 | 12 - 16 September | First time teaching

I started my week on Monday by finally teaching. My classes are on Monday at 11:30 am - 1 pm, Wednesday at 11:30 am - 1 pm and on Thursday at 10 am - 11 am.


Monday - 12th September


The very first lesson I taught was countable and uncountable nouns. It could be seen that some of the pupils were still trying to adapt with a new teacher teaching them.

Tuesday - 13th September


In the next class, I taught my pupils the next subtopic of Unit 5 - Food and Health. In this subtopic, I taught them the adjectives that are related to food. Firstly, I explained what is adjective and what makes it different from noun. After that, I showed them examples of adjectives and how to use them.

After making sure the pupils have understood adjectives well, I gave them a simple worksheet to test their understanding.

I didn't have any classes and only had to go to other classes for relief.

Due to school activity, my class on Thursday was postponed to the next time.

SWOT ANALYSIS OF WEEK 3

STRENGTH 
  • Almost all students can cooperate well in class. All the tasks are completed as planned.

WEAKNESS
  • I discovered some flaws in both pupils and myself. I was still nervous to teach and some pupils were not taking my lesson seriously. Therefore, not all pupils were 100% focusing on me. 

OBSERVATION 
  • Instead of being soft and smiley all the time, I changed my way of teaching by being more stern. I also made sure I sound more confident while talking and explaining.
THREAT 
  • If I don't get this weakness fixed, pupils will never respect me as their teacher and my lesson will not be fully effective.

Week 2 | 29 - 2 September | First time entering 5 UIAM

This week was started on Monday by celebrating Hari Ambang Kemerdekaan in conjunction to Independence Day. The celebration was really lively. There were montage show, performances by each year pupils and also simple singing performances by some teachers.



Since this week was still busy with a lot of other activities, my timetable kept clashing with the activities. Therefore, I didn't get to enter my class - 5 UIAM to teach. Instead, I got to enter the class just to relief other absent teacher.
