Week 14 | 28 - 30 November | Farewell SK TAMAN MELAWATI 2 | Klinik Ping Pong & Last week

It's already my last week at SK Taman Melawati 2. Time flies, and it's a short week. Since Monday was a school holiday, this week was started on Tuesday. I only teach one class which is 5 UIAM, so my last class with them was on Tuesday. I also finished making the mural along with my 3 friends.

Besides having the last class with 5 UIAM, there was also one more last event that me and my fellow morning session practicum teachers had to join, which was Klinik Ping Pong - ping pong practice. Along with SK Taman Melawati 2, 8 primary schools were included.

SWOT Analysis for Week 14

STRENGTH
  • Students had fully adapted having lesson with me compared to my first week. When I was teaching, they behaved well and interacted with me to keep the 2 way learning. I worked very hard to make sure they are comfortable with me but still respect me as an educator.

WEAKNESS
  • Regarding this week's teaching session, the only problem I had was too little of my class members were present due to their UPKK.

OBSERVATION
  • This week, my pupils considerably surpassed themselves by listening to my directions, being silent while I was teaching, showing respect to me as a teacher, and other actions.

THREAT
  • There were hardly any mistakes in my lesson, but occasionally I forgot to make sure that pupils who were sitting at the back of the class were receiving the same attention. But I tried to change that.

Week 13 | 21 - 27 November | Lawatan Menara KL & Perkhemahan Perdana Unit Beruniform

Week 13 had been a long week. This week, besides teaching, I also went to KL Tower with year 4, 5 and 6 pupils for their Lawatan Menara Kuala Lumpur. From Friday until weekend, me and another 7 fellow practicum teachers had to join the school camping which was Perkhemahan Perdana Unit Beruniform.

Monday - 21st November

On Monday, my class started as usual. Since too many school activities had been restricting my class to cope with the lesson, 5 UIAM had been a little left behind. Therefore, my mentor told me to proceed with 2 subtopics in a day.

The first subtopic - about a very gentle, tallest man in the world

The second subtopic - how to instruct past simple questions

Tuesday - 22nd November

On the next class, our next lesson was proceeded by learning the last subtopic for unit 7. Everything went well and my pupils engaged actively with me.

some pupils were chosen to do the roleplay by using the dialogue given

Wednesday - 23rd November

Since I don't have any class on Wednesday, I only had to go to other class for a period to relief. Other than that time, I went to do the mural that us, morning session practicum teachers were assigned to do. While doing the mural, I was told by one of my friends that I will also be joining the trip to KL Tower.

Thursday - 24th November

I had already planned what to teach my class, but due to the trip, the class was cancelled. Coincidentally, on that day, all pupils were having an English subject talk at the school's big hall. Besides going to KL Tower, pupils were also brought to visit Mini Zoo, Upside Down House and Blue Coral Aquarium.

Friday - 25th November

I don't have any class on Friday, so I only had to enter a year 4's class to relief.

4UIAM was the very first class I had to relief, and I'm finally relieving this class after so long. Some of them remembered me!

In the evening, after making sure all pupils involved in the camping were present, the journey to the camping were started. There were buses of pupils and 4 teachers in each bus.

At the camping, the program was started with ice breaking. This is to make sure pupils are befriending with everyone and no one was feeling left out. The next day, in groups, pupils had to do a lot of activities. Their schedule was packed from morning until night.

SWOT ANALYSIS FOR WEEK 13

STRENGTH
  • Students have comprehend the fundamentals of English, such as verbs, nouns, and pronouns, contributing to my teaching strengths this week. They have also applied my teaching style well and are very good at doing so.

WEAKNESS
  • The more pupils I teach, the fewer weaknesses I can find among them, but some of them still made minor mistakes like spelling error and simple grammar mistakes.

OBSERVATION
  • My observation this week indicates that they are interested in what they are learning and prefer the "fun and learn" strategy, which forgoes the necessity for a paper that is overly difficult in favour of distributing 2 to 3 sheets of paper in large quantities during the learning process. Their interest in English needs to be looked into further even if it has already come to light.
THREAT
  • Since there are different levels of pupils in my class, some pupils finish their worksheet or exercise faster than other pupils. This has led them to bother their friends or start playing. Future action to stop this issue is still being taken.

Week 12 | 14 - 18 November | Observation Day

This week was a little nerve-wrecking. Besides teaching as usual on Monday and Tuesday, I had my observation with my lecturer on Thursday.

Monday - 14th November

appendix for my lesson

For this lesson, I taught them straight away from the textbook. After that, I visualized some worksheets on the whiteboard so pupils could answer by writing their answers on the whiteboard.

Tuesday - 15th November

On Tuesday, I asked my pupils to do presentation regarding a topic I had taught them. After dividing them into groups of 6, each representative from the groups had to choose random descriptions. Based on the descriptions, pupils had to draw their own avatar and describe them in a paragraph.

After they were done with their presentation, there was a period left. Therefore, I proceeded by teaching them object pronouns.

Thursday - 17th November

It's observation day!

After making sure pupils had understood the lesson, I distributed the worksheet to everyone.

The observation went well and we rewarded ourselves by buying Starbucks!

SWOT ANALYSIS OF WEEK 12

STRENGTH

  • Pupils were able to recap the lesson they learned in previous class. I was also able to deliver my lesson smoothly and pupils could answer the worksheets easily.

WEAKNESS

  • One problem I discovered this week was from the drawing worksheet. Pupils began to lose their focus when some of their friends were asked to go to in front of the class and present their drawing.

OBSERVATION

  • From my observation, I need to avoid drawing worksheets as this may cause pupils to start lose focus because they want to see their friends' drawing.

THREAT

  • As a teacher, one of the most crucial aspects is planning. To create a better classroom climate, I must carefully design my lesson plan. Whatever may occur in class, I am prepared to manage it.

Week 11 | 7 - 11 November | Consistency is the key

This week, nothing special had happened. However, my pupils had been consistent in class. On Monday, they began learning a new topic which is Unit 7 - Growing Up. To start off in this topic, I taught 5 UIAM to describe people using some features like face shape, eyes, height, build and other features. After explaining and they had understood, the pupils were able to describe their friends when I asked them to do so.

some flashcards used to start the lesson

On the next 2 classes, I focused on making the pupils completing their workbook. While they were working on the exercises, I checked their notebooks and marked them. After that, we discussed the answers together.

SWOT ANALYSIS FOR WEEK 11

STRENGTH
  • Students could easily understand my lesson and give examples when asked to. They have also applied my teaching style well and are very good at doing so.

WEAKNESS
  • The more pupils I teach, the fewer weaknesses I could find among them, but only few of them still made minor spelling mistakes.

OBSERVATION
  • From my observation, most pupils were always enthusiastic to be engaged in the Q&A session. They were also alert when there was error in answers given. Only some were shy.

THREAT
  • As very few pupils were still shy, there were times where I could lost their track. In order to make sure they were still included, I had to make sure to go to them and checked up on them. If this situation keeps going, teacher might lose track and very few of them might feel left out.

Week 10 | 31 - 4 November | Making Poster & Maulidur Rasul Celebration

Monday always starts with formal morning assembly. In conjunction to Anti-DARVIH program, there was also mini skit to show the bad effects of DARVIH. D - Dadah (Drugs), A - Alkohol (Alcohol), R - Rokok (Cigarette), V - Vape, I - Inhalan (Inhalants), H - HIV/AIDS. This program was meant to ban all of those bad substances and also the bad side effects.

Other than that, there was also a competition of making poster for the Anti-DARVIH program. All pupils were involved, just at different time for each year.

The next day, my lesson was carried out successfully. Pupils learned how to tell about their weekend.

Besides teaching, I also went to 5 UUM for relief.

On Thursday, year 4, 5 and 6 had Maulidur Rasul celebration. I was assigned to be one of the judges and give marks in terms of discipline.

SWOT analysis for week 10

STRENGTH
  • This week, pupils could easily understand my teaching. They responded quickly and almost all of their answers were correct.

WEAKNESS
  • When given a task to build a complete sentence consisting 3 sentences on their mini whiteboard, pupils took to much time. This was because they were distracted by the mini whiteboard and began playing.
OBSERVATION
  • Pupils should be given to use the mini whiteboard 10 - 15 minutes before class end. Otherwise, the lesson will be dragged longer than it should.

THREAT
  • As a teacher, I should always be alert with pupils' behavior. If they start being distracted, I should get my pupils' attention again before proceeding with the lesson.

Week 9 | 24 - 28 October | Creating Vase

This week was not started on Monday because there was a holiday. On Tuesday, there was another activity that had caused me to be unable to deliver my lesson. On Thursday, pupils were involved in making vases activity. Since my classes are only on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, I wasn't able to teach this week. My lessons were postponed to the next week.

SWOT ANALYSIS OF WEEK 9

STRENGTH

  • Pupils were able to apply their lesson in daily talking. For example - there was, there were, there wasn't and there weren't. I asked pupils when they were creating vases, and they managed to answer correctly.

WEAKNESS

  • One problem I discovered this week was all of my classes had to be postponed due to school activities.

OBSERVATION

  • To my observation, pupils will apply what they have learned in their daily conversation. They just need to be drilled.

THREAT

  • When too many classes were postponed, it could disturb the teaching process.
