Week 13 | 21 - 27 November | Lawatan Menara KL & Perkhemahan Perdana Unit Beruniform

Week 13 had been a long week. This week, besides teaching, I also went to KL Tower with year 4, 5 and 6 pupils for their Lawatan Menara Kuala Lumpur. From Friday until weekend, me and another 7 fellow practicum teachers had to join the school camping which was Perkhemahan Perdana Unit Beruniform.

Monday - 21st November

On Monday, my class started as usual. Since too many school activities had been restricting my class to cope with the lesson, 5 UIAM had been a little left behind. Therefore, my mentor told me to proceed with 2 subtopics in a day.

The first subtopic - about a very gentle, tallest man in the world

The second subtopic - how to instruct past simple questions

Tuesday - 22nd November

On the next class, our next lesson was proceeded by learning the last subtopic for unit 7. Everything went well and my pupils engaged actively with me.

some pupils were chosen to do the roleplay by using the dialogue given

Wednesday - 23rd November

Since I don't have any class on Wednesday, I only had to go to other class for a period to relief. Other than that time, I went to do the mural that us, morning session practicum teachers were assigned to do. While doing the mural, I was told by one of my friends that I will also be joining the trip to KL Tower.

Thursday - 24th November

I had already planned what to teach my class, but due to the trip, the class was cancelled. Coincidentally, on that day, all pupils were having an English subject talk at the school's big hall. Besides going to KL Tower, pupils were also brought to visit Mini Zoo, Upside Down House and Blue Coral Aquarium.

Friday - 25th November

I don't have any class on Friday, so I only had to enter a year 4's class to relief.

4UIAM was the very first class I had to relief, and I'm finally relieving this class after so long. Some of them remembered me!

In the evening, after making sure all pupils involved in the camping were present, the journey to the camping were started. There were buses of pupils and 4 teachers in each bus.

At the camping, the program was started with ice breaking. This is to make sure pupils are befriending with everyone and no one was feeling left out. The next day, in groups, pupils had to do a lot of activities. Their schedule was packed from morning until night.

SWOT ANALYSIS FOR WEEK 13

STRENGTH
  • Students have comprehend the fundamentals of English, such as verbs, nouns, and pronouns, contributing to my teaching strengths this week. They have also applied my teaching style well and are very good at doing so.

WEAKNESS
  • The more pupils I teach, the fewer weaknesses I can find among them, but some of them still made minor mistakes like spelling error and simple grammar mistakes.

OBSERVATION
  • My observation this week indicates that they are interested in what they are learning and prefer the "fun and learn" strategy, which forgoes the necessity for a paper that is overly difficult in favour of distributing 2 to 3 sheets of paper in large quantities during the learning process. Their interest in English needs to be looked into further even if it has already come to light.
THREAT
  • Since there are different levels of pupils in my class, some pupils finish their worksheet or exercise faster than other pupils. This has led them to bother their friends or start playing. Future action to stop this issue is still being taken.
